With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the demise of Dr. Peter Kiarie Njoroge.
Son of the Late Njoroge Ndabari and the Late Alice Muthoni and Step-son of the Late Pauline Nyokabi.
He was a renowned scholar, devoted family man, and distinguished elder of Ndudu ya Agongoni a Rûrîrî rwa Aagîkûyû.
Dr. Kiarie rested on 2nd March 2025, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom, generosity, unwavering dedication to God through the Catholic faith and ecumenicism.
As a Doctor of Philosophy in Religious studies, Dr Kiarie made invaluable contributions to African Religious Studies, inspiring countless students and colleagues through his remarkable intellect and passion for learning and research.
His work on the ‘Decline of Spiritual Authority among the Agikuyu in the last 100 years’ will remain an indelible mark in the academic world.

Dr Kiarie was brother of the Late Raphael Thuku, Joseph Kamau, Mary Wanjiku, Veronica Waithira, Jacinta Njeri, Catalina Wanjiru, Step-brother of the Late Elizabeth Waithera, the Late Teresia Njeri, Clement Ndungu, the Late Morris Kamau, the Late Samuel Kung’u, Magdalene Wanjiru, Nancy Wambui.
Brother-in-law of Teresia Mukami, Mary Wanjiku, and the Late Agnes Njoki and the Late Esther Wanjiru, the Late George Mungai.
Requiem mass will be held at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Ruiru on Thursday 20 th March 2025 starting at 2.00 pm.
The Funeral mass will be held at St John the Baptist Catholic Church Magumu on Friday 21st March 2025 starting from 10.00 am and Burial the same day at his home in Magumu, sub-location Kairi in Gatundu North.
